Yorkie Dam - Madison Whelped 3/18/07

Madison and Dicky's litter consisted of three puppies. She whelped her first yorkie puppy at 8:00 AM. Her first puppy was delivered butt first and we had to assist because the puppy got stuck.
The first puppy was 4.3 oz. and was a female yorkie.

Madison whelped her second puppy at 8:20 AM. This puppy was a male and was 2.7 oz. She didn't have any problem whelping this puppy.

The third puppy whelped at 6:30 PM. He was a male and was born dead. Because her first puppy was larger and got stuck it is not uncommon to have problems with the other puppies. What happens is that there is bruising of her vulva. Depending on the degree of bruising will affect how much swelling will occur in her vulva. The more swelling the more of a problem there will be in whelping.

This is Madison's second litter. Her first litter she had three puppies and didn't want to take care of her puppies. We unfortunately weren't able to save any of the puppies. We have made some changes and hopefully since Madison has more experience we won't have any problems with this litter.
